Gas meter boxes and gas cabinets need to be made from materials which are ideally strong, lightweight, durable and affordable. Plus since many gas meter boxes are being fitted externally they also need to be weather proof and non corrosive.
GRP makes the perfect solution for manufacturing gas meter boxes and cabinets since it has all the above properties in abundance.
Kingsley gas meter boxes are moulded using layers of GRP laminate with encapsulated integral stiffening and manufactured from a fire retardant polyester resin conforming to BS 476 part 7 class 2 - 'Surface Spread of Frame' plus reinforced with chopped strand glass mat.
In addition the meter boxes and cabinets rear, side walls and doors, can also fully comprise of a double skin sandwich construction with the core material being 18mm plywood.
Each Kingsley gas meter box / cabinet has a life expectancy in excess of 25 years and has a minimum of 3% ventilation as directed by PRS 35 December 2008.
